Weight loss is often a hard and frustrating process, but you can speed things up and see good results sooner if you make some changes in your unhealthy diet.
If you cut out or at least cut down the intake of sugar, white flour, snacks, delicatessen, you won’t gain weight and you can decrease the chances of getting a heart or malignant diseases. (1)
So, unhealthy foods are bad for your weight, but also for your general well-being and health.
Here’s the list of foods to avoid when trying to lose weight:
1. All kinds of snacks
Yes, the number one temptation for everyone.
Delicious snacks.
Your bad habits of snacking unhealthy food can lead you to obesity, overweight, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, caries.
Chips, fat, butter, flakes, instant mashed potatoes, bakery products are very, very unhealthy.
In other words, the ingredients of these snacks damage the hypothalamic part of the brain which controls hunger and the satiety center responsible for regulating appetite making it resistant to leptin and eliminating the feeling of being satiated.
Also, this food may cause liver inflammation.
Snacks are loaded with fats, additives, and sugars, they contain small amounts of proteins and no fibers at all.
Eating snacks on a daily basis combined with physical inactivity is a one way street to obesity, overweight, belly fat and different health problems.
Tip: When you are craving for food and you start reaching for snacks, stop for a second and think what you are doing to your body. Grab an apple instead of unhealthy snacks and you will make the right choice.
2. French fries
Although potatoes prepared this way are tasty, the impact they have on your health is very bad.
Numerous studies show a strong relation between french fries and weight gain.
No wonder since french fries have a lot of calories and 99% are fats and sugars.
Tip: Eat boiled potatoes instead of fried ones. It’s a much better solution for your organism.
3. White bread, pasta
You probably know how unhealthy bread and pasta are, especially if they are made of white flour.
Pasta and bread have a high glycemic index and a bunch of calories responsible for obesity.
Tip: You should not eat these foods too often, and if you can’t resist them then you should replace them with products made of whole wheat flour.
4. Processed meat
Hot dogs, delicatessen, sausages are full of salt, fats, nitrites, nitrates and harmful smoke substances which give delicatessen their color, smell and taste.
These ingredients lead to weight gain and they are dangerous for your overall health.
They are usually full of hormones and may cause tumors and metabolism disorders.
Tip: If you can’t avoid these foods entirely, limit their intake to once a week and buy organic delicatessen.
5. Fruit yogurt
Fruit yogurt is tasty, but not friendly food for weight loss.
The level of sugar, additives, and preservatives is high, and the amount of fruit is very low.
They contain artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, cyclamin acid, and saccharin which are bad for your health.
Also, they contain artificial colors which are dangerous, especially for pregnant women and children.
Tip: Make fruit yogurt at home. Buy a low-fat Greek yogurt, put it in the blender with 100g of strawberries and enjoy the nutritious, healthy meal.
6. Herb cheese
Herb cheese is an alternative for people with lactose intolerance.
This product contains casein (protein from milk), water, starch, aromas, and artificial colors.
But, the main problem is that this type of cheese contains up to 50% of fat.
Hydrogenated vegetable fat has trans-fatty acids which may cause atherosclerosis, so better try to avoid these products.
Tips: If you are lactose tolerant, you should eat dairy products.
7. Fruit juices (from the supermarkets)
Most fruit juices from the local supermarkets have no nutritious value.
Basically, the main ingredients are water, a lot of sugar, additives and artificial colors.
The percent of the fruit is low and they don’t have fibers.
Tip: The best thing to do is to make juice at home because then you know what exactly you are drinking. Squeeze lemon, grapefruit, and orange and you have the perfect drink which will improve your health. Don’t throw the pulp, mix it with the juice because it’s rich in fibers – component of plant cells very important for weight loss.
8. Sodas
Definitely, high-carb food you should avoid.
People who drink two or more soda drinks every day are twice as likely to get obese and diabetes, especially diabetes type 2 and latent autoimmune diabetes common in adults, shows a new study.
Sodas have absolutely no benefits for your body – it is just sugar, sugar and sugar.
Tip: As I suggested above, make fruit juice at your home and enjoy the taste while bringing some real benefits to your body.
9. Alcohol
Although red wine can bring benefits to your organism, the majority of alcoholic beverages can only bring you a few pounds.
One gram of alcohol has 8 calories (a gram of fat has 9 calories).
Beer is especially high in calories and men know why because belly fat is often caused by excessive drinking.
Furthermore, excessive consumption of alcohol is very dangerous for your health and it may lead to addiction and many other problems like liver damage.
Tip: It’s fine to have a drink occasionally, as long as you don’t exaggerate. A glass or two of red wine per week is perfect! And if you want to slim forget about beer.
10. Ice cream
I know it’s delicious, but when it comes to weight loss ice cream is a big NO.
It is full of sugar and it is a real calorie bomb.
Industrial ice creams are loaded with calories, sugars, fats, and additives, too.
Ice cream is a food you should never eat if you want a flat stomach.
Tip: Make homemade ice cream. The internet is full of recipes, so grab some fruit and start making a perfect replacement for supermarket ice cream.

Iceberg lettuce has zero vitamin A or C in it. Romaine has a signigicant amount of Vitamin A , and a little Vit. C. I feel it is important to specify what kind of lettuce you are talking about, so people don’t misunderstand what is being said. Thank you!
